Will the shade fit? Ensuring compatibility between your pendant light shade and fixture.

All of our pendant shades can be ordered with one of two types of fitter.

Pendant socket size differs. To ensure the pendant light shade you order is compatible with your fixture, we offer two types of shade fitters. The fitter is the metal part of a shade that attaches to the pendant light socket.

Slip washer fitter - Our slip washer fitters have an inner diameter measuring 1 5/8" (1.625") and are the thickness of a penny. Pendant shades with this fitter type slip onto sockets and are held in place with one or more shade nut (also called shade rings or shade support ring). This European style fitter has become more popular over time. Slip washer fitters are compatible with larger, threaded pendant light sockets.

Threaded UNO fitter - An UNO fitter has an inner ring diameter measuring 1 1/4" (1.25") and is compatible with UNO threaded E-26 sockets. Pendant shades with this fitter type screw onto a pendant socket.

Pendant socket sizes vary. The example on the left works with a threaded uno fitter. The socket on the right works with our slip washer fitter. Both examples show threaded sockets with shade nuts/rings.
